Cork Snider began teaching in 1989 and has been in the classroom ever since. His specialty is AP Statistics, where he is one of the original teachers in the country in the subject. He has been at La Quinta for 30 years.
Cork has served as the high school segment director for two years, the grievance team for five years, and the PAR review panel for seven years. Cork feels it is important to serve others along the way.
Cork has been the head basketball coach, math department chair, and athletic director among other roles in his time teaching at La Quinta.
In 2006, Cork was selected as one of 25 “AP Teachers of the Year," while in 2014, he and five other teachers were on a float for a local parade called the Strawberry Festival in Orange County, as the six “favorite teachers” in his district.
Cork has done three charity bike rides to raise money for former students in the summertime. In 2003, he rode 2000 miles to raise money and awareness for organ donation in honor of a student that needed a new kidney. In 2022 and 2023, he rode 600 miles to raise money in honor of a former student who was leaving drug rehab. The money went to women with similar circumstances to help them get started as they leave a rehab facility.
Cork has been married to Sandy since 1996, and has a biological daughter, Morgan. They also fostered a child, Ashley (a student of Cork’s), beginning in 2006 that they consider their own.
